More at Man Day

We promised you more, so here you go. We’ve scouted and snapped London’s most stylish guys while hanging out in the thick of the action at Somerset House.

And with Man Day running to a full week of shows in June, we’ll be returning with more Reiss Live coverage then. But for now, Reiss Live; over and out.

Man Day – the street style snaps

A raft of fashionable happenings have taken place during our Reiss Live coverage. We have crossed oceans, negotiated cobbles and pounded pavements – all camera in-hand to capture the hottest looks fresh from New York and London Fashion Weeks.

As we reach the final day of London Fashion Week, we celebrate men’s style – like they do, with the dedicated Man Day – and hit the streets to snap our favourite fashionable gentlemen.

We’ll be updating throughout the day, so stay tuned for more looks.

GUEST ILLUSTRATOR: OCEANA GRANATA

We’ve already swooned over Oceana Granata’s illustrative interpretations of our SS12 womenswear collection, so here’s a few menswear pieces for good measure – it is Man Day after all.

Double breasted blazers are a key shape of the season and a total spring/summer ’12 must-have.

Natty knits breathe life into your summer wardrobe. We love the warm shade of this marl knit, it epitomises the sunshine season.

5 questions with…James Sherwood

As the last day of London Fashion Week celebrates menswear fashion with its very own dedicated Man Day, our final ’5 Questions With…’ is with one of the snappiest dressers we know, Mr James Sherwood.

As editor-at-large of The Rake and author of Savile Row: The Master Tailors of British Bespoke, he stands in great steed to talk us through his favourite Fashion Week moments.

What’s your favourite ever Fashion Week show?
Alexander McQueen’s A/W 2001/2 Merry-Go-Round show was one of the most haunting, disturbing and sublime pieces of theatre I’ve ever witnessed. It was held in a disused car park at night and the mis-en-scene was a demonic fairground with a sound track including the voice of the Child Catcher. When I interviewed McQueen later, he said it was a reflection of the nightmare time when he was designing Givenchy’s couture collection. I will never forget it.

Which trend will you be trialling at Fashion Week?
For men, I always keep a keen eye on the influence of Savile Row tailoring on young design talents and where labels like Rake and E Tautz want to take the silhouette. I fully expect to see the double-breasted, strong shouldered jacket and more fluid, Oxford bag trousers inspired by movies such as W.E. and the new Great Gatsby.

What 5 people would be on your fantasy front row?
Prince Harry, Cecil Beaton, Tommy Nutter, Ossie Clark and the Duke of Windsor.

Which show are you most excited to see?
One of my earliest London memories was ordering a bespoke Imperial yellow brocade waistcoat from Favourbrook in the Piccadilly Arcade for my 21st birthday. 19 years later, Favourbrook founder Ollie Spencer is headlining Men’s Day at London Fashion Week and justifying very early promise. Of the newer labels, I hugely admire Corrie Nielsen, Peter Pilotto and Lou Dalton.

Tell us your favourite Fashion Week anecdote
A favourite moment in recent years was the Jasper Conran show held on a Sunday when all the great and the good of British Fashion brought their children and grandchildren to the show. It was amusing to see Nicholas Coleridge and Suzy Menkes with a gaggle of children at their feet like Captain and Maria von Trapp.

5 questions with…Oceana Granata

Fresh from starring in our stylish Guest Illustrator spot, Oceana Granata answers our ’5 Questions With…’ and talks us through her favourite Fashion Week moments.

What’s your favourite Fashion Week show ever?
I adore Chanel’s shows, every single one is always incredible. One of my all-time favourites was the Cruise 2010 show which was held on the boardwalk of one of Venice’s most beautiful beaches at sunset. It reminded me of my favourite Visconti movie ‘Death in Venice’.

Which trend will you be trialling at Fashion Week?
You’ll see me dressed all in black with bright-coloured tights or socks.

What 5 people would be on your fantasy front row?
Nanna Øland Fabricius aka Oh Land as I absolutely love her style and her music, Claudia Schiffer, as she is still such an amazing top model after all these years in the limelight, Anna Piaggi, and Monica Bellucci wih husband Vincent Cassel. She is breathtakingly beautiful and has great sense of style, and who wouldn’t like a handsome man in the front row?

Which show are you most excited to see?
Zac Posen for his love of details on his clothes, they’re a wonderful sight especially for an illustrator’s eye. Antonio Berardi’s and Mulberry’s shows are always fun and young.

I ended up on the catwalk once! I often work backstage, and when it was time for rehearsal, not all the models had arrived, and they put me in one of the girls’ places. You should have seen the look of the photographers when they realised I wasn’t a top model. Well, I guess every girl can dream?

REISS LIVE: DAY 3 STREET STYLE

5 Questions With…Sarah Louise Marks

Our gorgeous Guest Blogger Sarah, from Baby is a Sinner took some time out of her busy London Fashion Week schedule to answers our ’5 Questions With…’

Your favourite Fashion Week Show ever?

Alexander McQueen – Spring Summer 2010 without a doubt, it was quite literally, out of this world. Everything from the colours and prints to the alien-like makeup and of course those amazing shoes, it was eccentric perfection.

Which trend will you be trialling at Fashion Week?

I don’t usually plan my outfits following specific trends, so whatever is not in the wash! ;)

Name 5 people from your fantasy front row.

My style icons: Mary-Kate Olsen, Erin Wasson, Chloe Sevigny and Kate Moss & Johnny Depp from the 90′s

Which show are you most excited to see?

Meadham Kirchoff, it’s always so colourful and fun

Tell us your favourite anecdote about fashion week?

Working on the door to a show in the BFC space at Somerset House last year, a fantastic blag artist tried to make his way in declaring that he was in fact my colleague who was inside, little did he know… We were still giggling about it in the office for weeks after!

5 QUESTIONS WITH…ZARA MARTIN

Zara Martin is a TV presenter, actress and model based in London.

Your favourite Fashion Week Show ever?
Vivienne Westwood. I sat next to Pamela Anderson and tried to act super cool about it.  I probably (definitely) failed.

Which trend will you be trialling at Fashion Week?
The lots of jewelry trend? Haha. I’ve just done a really exciting collaboration which is coming out in May so definitely will be covered in it.  Other than that I’ll mainly be focusing on not falling over on the cobbles at Somerset House in ridiculous heels.

Name 5 people from your fantasy front row.
Steven Tyler
Helena Bonham-Carter
Rihanna
Carmen Dell’Orefice
David LaChapelle

Which show are you most excited to see?
Mulberry.  It’s always so much fun, there is thought put into every detail and the set design is beautiful.

Tell us your favourite anecdote about fashion week?
I had to change between these 2 shows last season and found what I thought was a ‘quiet corner’ at the BFC show space. In reality, it was neither quiet, nor a corner…  More a GIANT WINDOW.  At least 20 people saw me naked.  Actually am I even allowed back this year?
